Trimester specific information for what patient can expect

Congratulations ! You are pregnant! We usually like to see you for your first consult when you are around 8-10 weeks pregnant. Unless you are having severe vomiting, heavy vaginal bleeding, or have a history of pregnancy loss.

conception to 12 weeks of pregnancy

 

During your first prenatal consult with us you can expect

  • Questions about your health and pregnancy history.
  • Blood pressure and weight check.
  • An early pregnancy ultrasound to confirm dating and pregnancy viability.
  • Blood tests to determine your blood type, hemoglobin levels, and if you have any infections. 
  • Discussion about prenatal genetic screening.
  • Recommendations on what medications in pregnancy, diet, and exercise.

 

After 12 weeks, we can hear your baby’s heartbeat via doppler. At this gestational age, your uterus is just reaching the top of the pubic bone.

 

11-14 weeks

 

  • Nuchal Translucency (NT) scan may be offered to rule out any risk for fetal chromosomal abnormalities.

 

At around 14 weeks we will give you your first TT vaccination to protect your baby against tetanus when they are born, we will also repeat the vaccine 4 weeks after the first administration (if you have an older child less than 5 years of age, only one dose is required during pregnancy).

 

Follow-Up Visits (Every 4 Weeks)

 

  • Blood pressure, heart rate, and weight check

  • Fetal heart rate monitoring

  • Symptom review

  • Belly measurement for baby’s growth

  • Additional blood tests as required

13 to 28 weeks

Routine Visits (Every 4 Weeks)

 

  • Continued monitoring of vital signs and fetal heart rate

  • Belly growth checks

  • Review of symptoms or concerns

  • Blood test follow-ups as needed

 

18–24 Weeks:

  • Anomaly/Anatomy Scan:
    Evaluates baby’s organ development, placental position, and fetal growth

 

24–28 Weeks:

  • Gestational Diabetes Screening

  • Continue standard checkups and assessments

 

28–36 Weeks

 

  • Visits every 2 weeks

  • Growth scans (if needed)

  • Non-Stress Test (NST) if baby’s well-being needs assessment

  • Blood tests (e.g., hemoglobin) as needed

 

36–41+ Weeks (Until Delivery)

 

  • Weekly consultations

  • Vaginal exams to check cervical readiness

  • Fetal monitoring (NST, Doppler flow, or Biophysical Profile if indicated)
